CES 2006: U3

U3 is just a USB stick with a difference – the difference ? It allows Windows PC users to run their programs completely from the USB disk drive – no dependence whatsoever on the Windows registry, temporary files, and workspaces. All the transactions and data stay on the USB device. So users can get, share and retrieve data with much more security. And the U3 device can be locked up tight with secure passwords and data encryption. And since a 2GB device is no bigger then a pack of Juicy Fruit gum (old style) -it has mobility written all over it.

Does this sound like a solution for data portability, back up, and transportability problems ? Currently there are about a hundred programs including Firefox, OpenOffice, Skype, Trillian, FxFoto, WinAMP, eWallet and others. The recent addition of Open Office is not to be ignored – now a complete productivity suite is always available in your pocket. Just sign at work at anywhere or a convenient Internet Cafe. I think U3 has legs.
