There is an excellent Indepth Computerworld article from November 7, 1994 entitled Renovate – Dont Obliterate by Ron Berry. Its managed to survive in my note folders for quite some time. It is as usual for a Mary Fran Johnson edited magazine – it is a way bit ahead of its time. To think that in 2-3 short years ahead, renovation for Year 2000 became the marching orders of the day. And now XML, Web Services, BPM, and EAI take up the OO and component marching orders of the day a decade ago – and provide for realistic reuse on both a macro as well as various gradations of micro scales as well now.

Again RIP to rip and replace.
