This is the price that hardware vendors have to bear for the next 1-3 years while Microsoft gets Vista off of bloat and upto Linux if not XPs reach in drivers and applications. This is the cross that all PC hardware vendors have to bear – increasingly they now work for Redmond. Hardware vendors are responsible for drivers and helping move apps forward; hardware product plans have to dovetail ever more closely with proprietary Windows designs and directions.
So the question for hardware vendors – why not support OS like Linux or Solaris where the “cost of upkeep” is considerably lower ?
