Gaslight Banner Ad from Microsoft

Wikipedia defines gaslighting as

Gaslighting is a colloquialism that is loosely defined as making someone question their reality.. The term is also used informally to describe someone (a “gaslighter”) who persistently puts forth a false narrative which leads another person (or a group of people) to doubt their own perceptions…

Some would argue that because gaslighting has become the virulent modus operandi of the Republican Party and leader Donald Trump, the practice would spread across a broad swath of organizations. After all isn’t PR about gaslighting customers when necessary And  lo and behold we have a banner ad as proof:

Just in the past two years, Cyber security experts have have cited the following Microsoft security incidents:

  1. Microsoft Exchange Server hack continues to spread worldwide
  2. Continuing fallout from Solarwinds debacle as US Government offices are hacked
  3. Microsoft Cloud Customers vulnerable due to Synnex hack
  4. Timeline of  Solar Winds problems is disconcerting
  5. latest Microsoft Power Apps hacking  flaw exposes millions of users.

Clearly Microsoft currently continues to have major security problems. Now I cannot speak to the speed of the Edge browser but here are some hints on speed – Edge, since converting to the Google Chromium engine, now ranks 4th to 5th in browser speed reports as in this review. Likewise, in the case of privacy it is best to read the Computerworld report of the ten steps you should take immediately to improve your privacy as a Windows 10 and Edge user. However, in the case of supporting Internet standards, caniuse.com reports that Chrome, Edge, and Opera are tops with Firefox, and then Apple Safari trailing behind in supporting current Internet standards & initiatives. Maybe this is  a positive result of  Edge using Google’s Chromium like Opera  and Brave.
